Qualification for Supervision:

Jodi Brown holds a MA in Counselling Psychology and a BS in Psychology and Health and Wellness. She is a Registered Psychotherapist, and Certified Canadian Counselor approved for independent practice and Clinical Supervision. Jodi has been practicing Psychotherapy since 2016. She considers herself a bottom-up therapist utilizing therapeutic modalities such as somatic psychotherapy, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Emotional Focused Therapy, Couples therapy and Internal Family Systems. Jodi compliments her extensive training with a 600-hour yoga teacher certificate and 20+ years of experience in yoga, mindfulness and nutrition. She serves a diverse population specializing in complex trauma,

Although Jodi values training and education, she feels her life experience is at the heart of her success as a therapist, business owner, supervisor and human. Her focus on experience has led her to believe that every journey is personal and sacred, including yours. Therefore, she will work to avoid advice and encourage individual exploration for guidance.

Therapeutic Alliance within Supervision:

Supervision should be a safe place to express all concerns, including lack of competency, imposter syndrome, fears, burnout, compassion fatigue, emotional overwhelm, countertransference and everything in between. Supervision should also be a safe, inclusive place to celebrate success, rejoice in learning, build resources, explore areas outside our tolerance window, smile, laugh, let off steam, and everything in between. In both group and individual supervision, it is Jodi’s priority to create a welcome space for all levels of experience and learning.

What you should expect from supervision:

The supervisory relationship is unique and essential. When executed to its full extent, clinical supervision will be a transformative experience for both the supervisee and their clients. When a therapist’s skills are enhanced in a safe, meaningful way, the therapist’s confidence increases, their attunement is sharpened, and their ability to remain self-led and present has a lasting effect on the mental health of our served populations. Therefore, do NOT underestimate the value of a positive supervision experience.

Confidentiality in Individual and Group Supervision:

Identifying information regarding a client or colleague during both individual and group supervision must be avoided. When presenting a client, please only present general information including age, presenting concerns, amount of sessions, current treatment plan, areas of strength, areas of difficulty and how you are feeling in relation to this client.
