Psychotherapy for Adults & Children

The Purpose of Psychotherapy

To strengthen the mind, through the exploration of emotions, thoughts, actions, and behaviours.

“Don’t mistake what you had to do or become to survive with who you are or what you are capable of achieving”.

If you are seeking a safe and validating space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences, you have found the right place.

Turning Point Counselling Centre acknowledges that our clinic resides in the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Attawandaron peoples. Our work to support the healing of the indigenous people is not complete without acknowledging the devastating and long-lasting effects of those who came before us. As settlers, and therapists we acknowledge our responsibility to acknowledge, hold space, and educate ourselves in respect to the injustices carried out by our ancestors toward the Indigenous people we support. Turning Point Counselling Centre’s therapists are grateful and humbled to be a small part of a much larger healing process. We hold in our awareness of the long-lasting negative effects of colonization, including the missing and murdered Indigenous women and children across Canada.

Furthermore, we are grateful for the opportunity to meet on this traditional territory, and we thank all the generations of indigenous people who honoured this land. We respect their traditions and culture and continue to learn to better serve them and mother earth. We recognize and deeply appreciate the historic connection of the indigenous people to this place. We also recognize and feel gratitude for the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community and our province and country as a whole.
